¿QUIÉN SOY?

Me llamo Aitziber, aunque casi todo el mundo me conoce como Hyperaitz. Empecé haciendo fotos siendo aún adolescente buscando contar algo pero sin saber muy bien el qué. Con el tiempo, la escalada apareció en mi vida y acabó mezclándose con la fotografía de una forma bastante natural. Desde entonces, muchas de mis historias ocurren entre paredes de roca, pies de gato, magnesio y paciencia esperando a que la magia suceda a través de mi objetivo para poder capturarla.
Me gusta la fotografía de acción, pero mucho más buscar todo lo que ocurre antes y después: los nervios antes de un pegue, una mirada después de caer, el cansancio, las risas, el paisaje o ese silencio justo antes de intentarlo otra vez. Supongo que por eso mi fotografía tiene mucho de documental. No busco fabricar momentos, sino estar allí cuando ocurren.
La escalada me ha llevado a sitios increíbles y me ha permitido conocer a personas que probablemente nunca habría conocido de otra manera. Por eso no se me ocurre una excusa mejor para seguir llevando una cámara a todas partes.

My name is Aitziber, although almost everyone knows me as Hyperaitz.
I started taking photographs as a teenager and started photographing everything around me, trying to tell a story without really knowing what that story was. Over time, climbing came into my life and naturally became intertwined with photography. Since then, many of my stories have taken place among rock walls, climbing shoes, chalk and the patience of waiting for a little bit of magic to happen in front of my lens so I can capture it.
I love action photography, but I’m even more interested in everything that happens before and after: the nerves before a try, a look after falling, exhaustion, laughter, the landscape, or that moment of silence just before trying again.
I guess that’s why there is a strong documentary element to my photography. I’m not interested in creating moments, but in being there when they happen.
Climbing has taken me to incredible places and allowed me to meet people I probably would never have met otherwise. That’s why I can’t think of a better excuse to keep carrying a camera with me everywhere I go.
